Enjoy exciting game drives in search of the legendary Big Five, a night safari at Crater Lake and a visit to a traditional Maasai village. The beautiful surroundings of Lake Elementaita and the private Soysambu Conservancy are also part of this adventure. Four carefully selected safari camps and lodges provide comfortable bases for exploring Kenya’s diverse wildlife and landscapes.
Itinerary for the Mara Big Five Safari 2027
Day 1 – Welcome to Kenya
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be welcomed and transferred to Kazuri Camp. Here, you can relax after your journey and look forward to the safari adventures ahead.

Day 2 – Crater Lake: Nature experience and night safari
After breakfast, you will set off at around 8 am, travelling through the spectacular Great Rift Valley towards Crater Lake. Upon arrival at Crater Lake Tented Camp, you will enjoy lunch before exploring the beautiful surroundings of the crater lake on an afternoon walk.
After dinner, an exciting night game drive awaits, offering the chance to spot nocturnal wildlife rarely seen during the day.

Day 3 – Off to the Masai Mara
Your day begins with a walk to the leopard viewpoint. Afterwards, you will continue towards the famous Masai Mara, with a packed lunch to enjoy along the way.
After checking in at Mara Big Five Camp, you will visit a traditional Maasai village in the afternoon and gain an insight into the culture and traditions of the Maasai people. In the evening, you will return to camp for dinner.

Day 4 – Safari to see the Big Five
Today, you will explore the vast savannahs of the Masai Mara on a full-day game drive. Keep your eyes open for the famous Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos – as well as giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many other wild animals.
Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by nature before continuing your safari. In the evening, you will return to camp after a memorable day in the bush.

Day 5 – Discovering the Masai Mara
Another full day on safari gives you the opportunity to discover different parts of the Masai Mara. Accompanied by your experienced driver-guide, you will explore the reserve’s diverse wildlife habitats and, with a little luck, encounter prides of lions, herds of elephants or a leopard resting in a tree.
A picnic lunch in the bush offers a relaxing break before you continue your game drive.

Day 6 – Lake Elementaita & Soysambu
After breakfast, you will leave the Masai Mara and travel to the picturesque Lake Elementaita in the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival at Sentrim Elementaita Lodge, you will enjoy lunch before heading out on an afternoon game drive.
Explore the private Soysambu Conservancy, known for its varied landscapes and rich wildlife. Afterwards, you will return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 7 – Return journey to Nairobi
Your final safari day begins with a picnic breakfast in the Soysambu Conservancy, followed by one last game drive.
Afterwards, you will return to the lodge before setting off for Nairobi with a packed lunch. Your safari ends with a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your return flight.

The safari takes place with a maximum of six guests per 4×4 and is led by an English-speaking driver-guide.
All wildlife sightings take place in the wild and cannot be guaranteed. The conservation area fees included in the tour price are based on 2026 rates. Any fee increases for 2027 may be charged additionally.
